Baldwin IV - known as the Leper King of Jerusalem
Baldwin ruled a thriving crusader state and succeeded in protecting it from the Muslim ruler Saladin. The Jerusalem cross was part of the Crusaders coat of arms at the Jerusalem Kingdom, that represents Christ's command to spread the Gospel around the world. It is a busy collection of five crosses that represent the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, with Christ in the center Christianity (central cross) broadcast by missionaries to the four corners of the world.
